Bixby Creek Bridge, Big Sur, California
Roughly 215km south of San Francisco is this little gem of a bridge on Highway 1, the Bixby Creek Bridge. As its name suggests, this bridge allows Highway 1 to cross Bixby Creek along the beautiful Big Sur coastline region of California. Built in 1932, the bridge itself is fairly typical of many other concrete arch bridges scattered along the west coast. What makes this bridge stand out from the rest is its stunning location. With rolling mountains on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other, the bridge is quite popular with tourists looking to stretch their legs and take a quick snapshot of the scenery. It doesn’t matter how many times I visit the Monterey area, I always make a point of stopping here to take in the view.
